Dr. Carrie Sessom can provide dental sealants to help reduce your child’s risk of cavities. Sealants are usually offered when the permanent molars begin to erupt, and work to cover the pits and grooves in the chewing surfaces of the teeth where bacteria and debris can congregate. We invite you to contact Riverwalk Dental Spa at 918-392-7654 to make your child’s appointment with our dentist and learn more about dental sealants in Jenks, Oklahoma.
Dental sealants are a preventive treatment that help children avoid developing cavities and other forms of tooth decay. Sealants are made from clear or tooth-colored materials, and are painted onto the chewing surfaces of the tooth, where they literally “seal out” bacteria, plaque, and debris by forming a smooth surface over the pits and grooves of the tooth. This also makes it easier for effectively clean your child’s teeth with normal brushing and flossing. Sealants can be applied in just one visit to our office, and last for several years.
We recommend that your child receive sealants as soon as his or her permanent molars come in, which is usually between the ages of 6 and 12. Our dentist may also recommend dental sealants for adults with a higher risk of developing tooth decay or who have unusually deep grooves in the chewing surfaces of their teeth.
