Toothpaste is a great tool that can help you have strong and healthy teeth and gums. However, that’s only the case if you have the right toothpaste for your smile. The same goes for your child. To help you select the best toothpaste for your child’s little chompers, our dentist, Dr. Carrie Sessom, has some recommendations for you.

First, keep an eye out for the ADA (American Dental Association) Seal of Acceptance. This is important because this logo proves that it’s one of the best toothpaste for your child. The ADA tested the toothpaste and it passed, proving that it is safe and effective for use.

Second, avoid kinds of toothpaste that have harsh abrasives. This is recommended because harsh abrasives can wear away and erode young tooth enamel. So, make sure you avoid those ingredients as much as possible. Children’s toothpaste should be harsh abrasive free.

Third, choose a paste that has fluoride. Fluoride can help your child by strengthening the tooth enamel and helping the smile prevent dental issues. However, fluoride is only safe for children who are 3 years old or older, so please do not choose fluoridated toothpaste if your child is younger than 3.
